The Good Vibrations Ligustrum is an easy-care plant that introduces colorful foliage into a landscape. This privet, also known as Ligustrum ovalifolium, boasts variegated leaves with green centers and bold, goldish-yellow margins. The oval-shaped foliage comes to a point and grows along woody stems. This shrub is a slow grower, so it will not overtake or outgrow a spot.
This plant has a compact, branched structure well suited to a bed, border, or low hedge. The brightly colored foliage makes this plant a natural focal point. This deciduous shrub is all about foliage and does not produce flowers. Very little maintenance is required for this heat-tolerant beauty to thrive. Grow the Good Vibrations Ligustrum as a perennial in zones 6 through 9.
Good Vibrations Ligustrum Care
Plant this leafy shrub in rich soil that is moist and well drained. Good Vibrations needs at least 4 to 6 hours of sunlight, although it can handle more light. This shrub needs water when the top few inches of soil are dry. The Good Vibrations Ligustrum is a slow-growing shrub, but you can support continued growth by fertilizing this plant in the early spring. Use a fertilizer with increased nitrogen levels and an NPK ratio of 15-5-10 or similar.
Pruning is not generally necessary as this plant naturally has an attractive, balanced shape and grows slowly. Remove dead or damaged growth at any time and wait until the spring to shape the plant if needed.
Good Vibrations Ligustrum Spacing
This compact bush will reach 3 to 5 feet tall and 2.5 to 4 feet wide. Shrubs can be planted 2.5 to 4 feet apart when creating a hedge.
