The Hansa Landscape Shrub Rose is a long-blooming perennial that is beautiful and boasts a lovely fragrance. Large buds open to display double violet-red flowers about 4 inches across. Yellow stamens gently peek out from behind ruffled petals, and the blooms are offset by bold green foliage. This stunner will bloom from early summer until the first frost.
This reliable shrub has a bushy, upright growth habit and can be used to add color to a yard or outdoor space. Create a flowering hedge, line a walkway or patio or simply create a focal point. Feature this plant in a busy or high-traffic area where the spicy scent of the blooms can be enjoyed. Hansa Landscape Shrub Rose is disease-resistant and hardy and grows as a perennial in USDA zones 5 through 8.
Hansa Landscape Shrub Rose Care
Plant in full to partial sun, although expect more prolific blooming when planted in higher light levels. This shrub rose can handle low-quality soil, but rich, moist, and well-drained soil will support more abundant growth. This shrub has average water needs, so give it a drink when the top few inches of soil dry out. Feed this plant using a balanced fertilizer in late winter or early spring and again in early summer.
Hansa Landscape Shrub Rose is a suckering shrub, which means it will spread by sending out shoots or suckers from near its base. These growths will sap energy from the plant and can be removed as soon as they appear. This cultivar does not respond well to heavy pruning, and a severe trim may encourage suckers. Remove dead growth as necessary.
Hansa Landscape Shrub Rose Spacing
This upright shrub has a full form and will grow 4 to 5 feet tall and wide. Space shrubs at least 4 feet apart.
