The Head Over Heels® Blush Hibiscus is aptly named because the large, showy blooms will likely cause you to fall in love with this plant. This perennial goes by the botanical name Hibiscus moscheutos 'RutHib1’, and features flared, ruffled petals that are blush pink with a deep magenta eye. The pronounced stamens provide texture and add to the showy appeal. The flowers are certainly lovely, but the foliage is also stunning. Dark green leaves have a hint of burgundy for an unexpected burst of color.

Use this impressive shrub to line a walkway or frame a deck or patio. At about 3 feet tall, the Head Over Heels® Blush Hibiscus can be a wonderful foundation planting. Feature this Hibiscus in a mixed bed or use it as a specimen. The tropical-looking flowers will give your space a relaxed vibe. Grow this beauty in zones 6 through 10.

Head Over Heels® Blush Hibiscus Care

Plant Head Over Heels® Blush Hibiscus in full sun. This beauty needs at least 6 hours of direct sunlight to set flowers and look its best. Rich soil with moderate moisture and good drainage is vital. New plants need consistent water, while established Hibiscus shrubs need water weekly, depending on rainfall. A thick layer of mulch will retain moisture and reduce weeds. Use a slow-release fertilizer in early spring, after the flowers fade, and again in midsummer and fall to help the plant thrive.

Prune the plant as needed in early spring to shape the shrub and encourage more branching. Remove dead or damaged growth at any time.

Head Over Heels® Blush Hibiscus Spacing

A mature shrub stands 2 to 3 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide. Space Head Over Heels® Blush Hibiscus shrubs 3 feet apart when creating a dense planting.
