Growing Zones
You will be head over heels for this absolutely charming plant, especially after it starts to flower. The Head Over Heels® Passion Hibiscus blooms in late spring and features bold pink flowers that are massive. The five petals slightly overlap, feature a dark pink eye, and have a slight texture that almost resembles crepe paper. The showy flowers are complemented by burgundy foliage.
This easy-care plant cannot help but become a focal point. Include this beauty in a mixed perennial bed and make a bold statement with other spring-blooming plants or feature with plants that bloom later in the season for continuous color. Grow in a container to showcase this beauty on a deck or patio space. You won’t be the only one drawn to the large flowers, as pollinators will visit the blooms. The Head Over Heels® Passion Hibiscus is a hardy hibiscus and grows as a perennial in USDA zones 4 through 10.
Head Over Heels® Passion Hibiscus Care
This plant requires plenty of sun, so select a spot that receives at least 6 hours of light. Water weekly or when the top few inches of soil dry out. Plan to water more often during a dry spell to keep the plant hydrated and looking its best. Hibiscus prefers damp conditions, so use moist but well-drained soil that is rich and slightly acidic. Feed the plant every 6 weeks using a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer.
Deadhead the perennial to encourage more blooms. Cut the Head Over Heels® Passion Hibiscus back after the frost.
Head Over Heels® Passion Hibiscus Spacing
This plant will grow 2 to 3 tall and 3 to 5 feet wide. Space plants 5 feet apart to create a hedge or grow in a 14- to 16-inch container.
