Reminiscent of an Old Garden Rose, Heirloom Hybrid Tea Rose, a modern hybrid, produces fragrant, semi-double blooms and is lovely as it is low maintenance. Four-inch florets, fading from mauve to shades of raspberry and lilac as the flowers bud and bloom, emit a traditional perfume that has notes of spice and fruit. The blooms are complemented by lustrous, emerald green foliage. Heirloom Hybrid Tea Rose’s classic blooms add old-fashioned color, texture, and charm to any yard from May until September, whether grouped in a border or added to a garden bed. Otherwise known as Rosa 'Heirloom’ and Heirloom Rose, this shrub grows to a maximum height and spread of 3-4 feet. And? Producing traditional cut-flower quality blooms its very first year atop strong 20-inch stems, you can share this perennial’s incredible beauty with family and friends from spring until summer.
Like other modern hybrid tea rose cultivars, Heirloom Hybrid Tea Rose is native to France. Growing upright and bushy, this deciduous perennial provides interest year-round save winter. Hardy and requiring less maintenance than many of its peers, this heirloom-like rose poses few problems to new gardeners. Finding its fragrance and nectar akin to ambrosia, pollinators will flock to it. Deer may occasionally browse this shrub, so plant it in a protected area if deer are
Heirloom Hybrid Tea Rose Care
Heirloom Hybrid Tea Rose relishes moisture and sun. Find a spot that preferably gets 4-6 hours of full sun followed by afternoon shade. Ensure the spot also has loamy, well-drained, and slightly acidic soil with a pH of 6.0 to 6.5. If you need to amend the soil, you can do so by adding peat moss/coco moss/perlite. Plant this shrub in a hole that is twice as large as the root ball and as deep as the root ball’s height. Provide 1 to 2 inches of water every week. To prevent this lovely perennial from developing fungal disease, however, conduct a moisture check in between waterings. Water if the top 2-3 inches of soil are dry and wait a day or two to conduct another check if they are not. Fertilize Heirloom Hybrid Tea Rose three times annually with a balanced fertilizer, first during the spring and then two more times in June and July.
Prune Heirloom Hybrid Tea Rose lightly during the spring. Trim any dead, diseased, and/or damaged canes. To encourage the production of bigger blooms, cut back healthy canes by about a third.
Heirloom Hybrid Tea Rose Spacing
When planted in borders and beds, Heirloom Hybrid Tea Rose’s lush blooms of mauve, raspberry, and lilac add grace to any yard. Space this perennial 48 inches from the next when planted en masse. Adding charm to patios also, this showstopper stands out well when planted in a container. Simply plant in a pot that has a depth and width of 20 inches.
