This white flowering clematis has been planted in gardens for over a century. Its dinner plate 6- to 8-inch-wide snow-white flowers have attractive ribbing down the center of each petal and contrasting coffee-colored anthers. Henryi Clematis will grow to between 8 and 10 feet in height with a 1 to 2-foot spread in a full to partially sunny location. This repeat bloomer will make a statement in your garden for many years when grown in USDA plant hardiness zones 4 to 8.

Henryi Clematis is bee, butterfly, and hummingbird friendly. Deer and rabbits tend to leave it alone. This clematis will grow best when planted in the ground near a trellis, arbor, fence, wall, or another vertical structure. Use it as a thriller plant in a very large container. Add the white flowers produced on this perennial to flower arrangements.

Henryi Clematis Care

This clematis has moderate moisture requirements. Clematis are heavy feeders. Add a balanced fertilizer in the spring and continue fertilizing throughout the growing season as directed on the package. There’s no need to deadhead this plant for flowers to be produced all summer long.

Henryi Clematis vine belongs to pruning group 2, which means it blooms on new wood and old wood and produces early-season blooms on the previous season’s growth. A second flush of flowers appears on new growth. In the early spring (February or March), prune 12 inches from each shoot above the first pair of new swollen leaf buds. Be sure to remove any dead, damaged, or weak stems too.

Henryi Clematis Spacing

Space individual plants a minimum of two feet apart. They’ll appreciate having room to grow.

    Nice little...

Posted by Eugene Greer on Jul 06, 2023

Growing quickly, the two little clematii are obviously hardy. Unlike others already in my yard, these have not been intimidated by the hot July sun. (Most of the others wilt at the tips in the afternoon heat - but not these Henryi!) I haven't even taken them out of the mailing-pots yet and they're stretching out. I have read that Henryi are pretty susceptible to clematis wilt. If I'd read that initially I probably wouldn't have bought them, but I have to say that so far... so good! They're taking off like there's no stopping them and one is already starting to bloom.

    My clematis plant.

Posted by Susan Douglas on May 12, 2022

The clematis came with in the time I was told. I am disappointed in the size. I must have misunderstood the size. I thought I was buying a quart size plant, however it was a pint size. It does look very healthy.

The plants were great, service was even...

Posted by Victor Gibialante on May 06, 2022

I’ve ordered a lot from online nurseries. Without fail, Plant Addicts has the best service and shipping. I’ve ended up cancelling other orders when I find I can shift to these folks. The one time that I had a damaged shipment, it was corrected with a 30 second phone call. PA is a trusted source for us.

The plant arrived on time and well packaged. It looked very healthy all year and I'm hopeful that it will come back again next year.
