Stunning foliage makes the Herman's Pride Dead Nettle or Lamiastrum galeobdolon stand out. Small yellow flowers add color from late spring through summer, but the showy foliage steals the show. The gently toothed silver foliage boasts green midribs and veining. This plant has a full and lush appearance.
Herman's Pride Dead Nettle is adaptable and tolerant of harsh conditions that are simply too much for many other plants. Feature this leafy, low-maintenance perennial near the front of a mixed bed, in a rock garden, or on an embankment, or use it as a filler in a container. This lamium is drought tolerant as well as deer and rabbit resistant. Herman's Pride Dead Nettle grows happily in zones 4 through 8.
Herman's Pride Dead Nettle Care
Plant Herman's Pride Dead Nettle in full to partial sun in moist, well-drained soil. Young plants need regular water. Mature plants are drought tolerant but appreciate water during a dry period. Apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring and mid-summer to encourage abundant growth.
Prune the reaching stems to promote full, bushy branching and new growth. Trimming the stems can also redirect growth to fill in an area.
Herman's Pride Dead Nettle Spacing
Herman's Pride Dead Nettle stands 6 to 12 inches tall and spreads 10 to 14 inches wide. This perennial is fast growing with a spreading tendency, so space plants at least 14 inches apart.
