Welcome spring with the early blooms of the Honeymoon French Kiss Lenten Rose. This lovely Hellebore blooms for several weeks in early spring, and will brighten your garden with some of the first blooms of the spring. The 3” white blooms have raspberry pink veining and a chartreuse center. The Honeymoon French Kiss variety is vigorous and produces large amounts of blooms through the summer.
Hellebores like Honeymoon French Kiss are a superb choice for naturalizing moist woodland areas, and are equally well suited for planting into a shady perennial garden. It is easy to grow and low maintenance. Bees love the flowers, but deer and rabbits stay away. This is a reliable evergreen perennial that will help you celebrate spring year after year.
Honeymoon® French Kiss Lenten Rose Care
Hellebores are adaptable plants that can thrive in a variety of conditions. They are low maintenance and typically pest and disease free. Honeymoon® French Kiss Lenten Rose needs to be protected from the harsh afternoon sun and requires a part- to full-shade location. They prefer rich, moist, loamy soil but will also grow in sand or clay-based soil. A pH range of lightly acidic to slightly alkaline is ideal. While they prefer to have moist soil, they can tolerate short periods of drought.
Mulch heavily in the fall to maintain the soil moisture and add organic matter to the soil. Apply a layer of compost in spring to provide the organic matter it needs to thrive. Trim back the past year’s growth in late winter or very early spring. Be aware that this plant is poisonous if ingested.
Honeymoon® French Kiss Lenten Rose Spacing
Honeymoon French Kiss Lenten Rose will slowly spread through an extensive root system over time. However, it is unlikely to invade the garden or become a nuisance. Give it space to grow; at least 18-24” from other plants.
