Lenten Rose is an early bloomer known for stunning flowers. The Honeymoon® Irish Luck Lenten Rose is a Hellebore that features single blooms with five petals in a light green hue with a contrasting burgundy eye. Flowers bloom from mid to late spring and are often the first flowers to welcome in the season. The flowers are complemented by medium-green foliage with serrated edges. The greenery stays in place after the flowers fade.
Grow the Honeymoon® Irish Luck Lenten Rose in an eye-catching mass planting or in a container. Trim the stems to display the lovely flowers in an arrangement. The flowers support bees early in the spring, and the greenery is not favored by foraging animals like rabbits and deer. Grow the Honeymoon® Irish Luck Lenten Rose as a perennial in zones 4 through 9.
Honeymoon® Irish Luck Lenten Rose Care
Plant the Honeymoon® Irish Luck Lenten Rose in partial to full shade. This plant thrives in shady spots, like underneath trees or near buildings. The soil should be rich, neutral to slightly alkaline, and well drained. Amend the soil with organic compost or mulch when planting to support new growth. Plants grown in rich soil will not need fertilizer, but plants in low-quality soil will benefit from a balanced plant food applied in the spring. Water when the top few inches of the soil are dry.
Strong winds can damage the delicate foliage. Plant your Hellebore in a protected area to prevent wind damage, and remove ripped or torn leaves as necessary. The old foliage can be removed in early winter to allow the beautiful flowers to be visible. New foliage will emerge in spring.
Honeymoon® Irish Luck Lenten Rose Spacing
The Honeymoon® Irish Luck Lenten Rose stands 18 to 24 inches tall and wide. Space plants 18 to 24 inches apart to create a full mass planting. Feature 2 Lenten Rose plants in a 12-inch container.
