The Humdinger® Magenta Munchkin Butterfly Bush has tiny flowers, but they grow in large clusters for a major impact. The gently arching cone-shaped clusters reach 10 to 12 inches long and consist of dark purple blooms with light eyes. The early blooming Buddleia will command your attention during the summer as it continues to bloom. This plant features narrow green foliage that comes to a point.
This butterfly bush has a dense growth habit, creating a very lush and full appearance and the plant naturally maintains its compact size with age. The Humdinger® Magenta Munchkin Butterfly Bush is a must-have for a butterfly garden and a fantastic option for beds, borders, and mass plantings. While butterflies and hummingbirds enjoy the blooms, deer are not fans of this plant, and they generally leave it alone. Grow this butterfly bush as a perennial in USDA zones 5 through 10.
Humdinger® Magenta Munchkin Butterfly Bush Care
The lovely flowering perennial needs full sun for the best results. Allow the top few inches of the soil to dry out before watering. Plant in rich, moist soil that is well-drained. Fertilize each spring using balanced plant food.
Give this plant a rejuvenating trim each spring to encourage full and bushy growth. Deadhead the plant to maintain a tidy look and encourage more flowering.
Humdinger® Magenta Munchkin Butterfly Bush Spacing
The compact Butterfly Bush will grow 3 to 4 feet tall and wide. Plants can grow as close as 2.5 to 3.5 feet apart for a thick and full landscape.

?
"Blooms on" tells you which stems produce flowers, which decides when it's safe to prune.
- New Wood: Flowers form on stems that grow this season. Prune in late winter or early spring without losing blooms.
- Old Wood: Flower buds form on last year's stems. Prune right after flowering. Pruning in fall or early spring removes next year's blooms.
- Both New and Old Wood: Blooms on last year's stems and again on new growth, so it flowers even after a hard winter or a mistimed pruning. Prune lightly after the first flush of blooms.
