The bright orange and yellow flowers of the Inca Holland Peruvian Lily make it ideal for any hot border or to add color to a deck or patio. Blooming all season long from early summer until the first frost, this perennial remains compact to around 12 inches high. Botanically classified as an Alstroemeria hybrid, this plant is perhaps better known as the Peruvian Lily. With a long vase life, it is no wonder it is a cut flower favorite.

With its compact form, the Inca Holland Peruvian Lily is perfect for growing in a group in a border or container. Either way, its bold colors are bound to draw attention wherever it is grown. Being a dwarf variety, this alstroemeria does not need staking as it holds its blooms proudly on sturdy, erect stems.

Inca Holland Peruvian Lily Plant Care

For this plant to thrive, it needs to be planted in either full sun or light shade. It prefers fertile and free-draining soil that is kept moist. However, be careful not to overwater it, as saturated soil can lead to root rot. To encourage repeat blooms all season long, you can fertilize this plant using either slow-release granules on planting or a liquid feed when the plant is actively in flower. To keep the soil moist, frequent watering is required, especially when grown in a planter or pot.

To help conserve moisture, a mulch can be applied to the base of the plant in spring. To neaten its appearance and to promote reflowering, you can remove the flowers as they begin to fade. The Inca Holland Peruvian Lily is suitable for growing as a perennial in zones 8 to 10.

Inca Holland Peruvian Lily Plant Spacing

When mature, the Inca Holland Peruvian Lily can reach a size of 10 to 14 inches tall and 10 to 16 inches wide. For a serious display of color, you can grow this plant in a group at a spacing of 10 to 16 inches.
