The Inca Husky Peruvian Lily may become your favorite plant after you get to know this low-maintenance beauty. This Alstroemeria blooms non-stop throughout the spring, summer, and fall. The flowers are a peachy orange hue and feature yellow centers with dark-colored flecks. Solid stems lined with dark green foliage that comes to a point support the blooms. This plant fails from South America and grows as a perennial in USDA zones 7 through 10.
This particular cultivar maintains a compact growth habit. It will reach about a foot in height, making the Inca Husky Peruvian Lily a great option to feature near the front of garden beds. The striking flowers look dazzling in mass plantings, borders, or as a filler in a container. The bold flowers stand out, so this plant will be a focal point wherever it is planted. The flowers last for a long time, so this is a great plant to add to your landscape if you enjoy cut flowers.
Inca Husky™ Peruvian Lily Care
Place the Inca Husky Peruvian Lily in part to full sun. This plant needs at least 4 hours of light daily, but closer to 6 hours is ideal. Water when the top layer of the soil feels damp. Peruvian Lilies like moist conditions, but the soil should promote drainage and not be soggy. For more advanced gardeners, maintain a soil pH of 5.5 to 6.5.
Fertilize every other week while the plant is blooming. Use a water-soluble plant food high in nitrogen. Remove dead growth as necessary, but otherwise, this plant does not require much pruning. Deadhead the plant to keep it looking nice and help it maintain its compact size. This plant can be propagated through division during the spring. Dig up and separate the rhizomes and replant them in a sunny spot.
Inca Husky™ Peruvian Lily Spacing
The Inca Husky Peruvian Lily will grow 8 to 12 inches tall and 14 to 16 inches wide. Space 16 inches apart to create a consistent planting or space them further apart if you want a more spread-out landscape. This plant makes an excellent container plant, and one plant can comfortably live in a 12-inch container.
