This herbaceous perennial will add drop-dead gorgeous funnel-shaped bright orange-red blossoms with black to burgundy streaked lighter-hued orange throats to your garden from late spring through autumn. It will attract the attention of people driving or walking by your gardens. Inca Joli Peruvian Lily looks similar to the alstroemeria created for the cut flower industry, but this species was bred specifically for the home garden. It does make a good choice for home garden bouquets.
Alstroemeria ‘Koncajoli’ is native to Brazil and Chile. Add this perennial to border gardens, mass plantings, focal points, along paths and in containers. It will grow to be 16 to 20 inches tall and 24 inches wide in a bushy, upright shape. It will grow slightly smaller when grown in a container. Its medium green sword-shaped leaves grow close to the stems, adding to its lovely texture.
Inca Joli Peruvian Lily Care
Plant Inca Joli Peruvian Lily in full sun or part shade conditions in average to rich soil in USDA plant hardiness zones 6 to 9. It breaks dormancy in the spring later than most perennials so be careful not to step where its planted or attempt to plant something in its place mistakenly thinking that it didn’t survive the winter. The flowers attract butterflies and other pollinators, but deer tend to leave it alone. It’s relatively disease-free but slugs may be attracted to it.
