Non-stop flowers and minimal care ensure the Inca Replay Peruvian Lily is a gardener favorite. Also known as the Lily of the Inca or Alstroemeria, this perennial is known for striking blooms during the spring, summer, and fall. Trumpet-shaped violet flowers fade to cream near the throat and have dark flecks. The showy flowers grow on thick, sturdy stems lined with dark green foliage.
Alstroemeria is a versatile plant grown in borders, mass plantings, or containers. This upright plant has a dwarf growth habit, so it is better suited to the front of a planting where its showy blooms will be on full display. Alstroemeria is prized for its cut flowers which can last for several weeks. This beauty is native to South America and is a perennial in zones 7 through 10 but can be found as an annual in colder regions.
Inca Replay™ Peruvian Lily Care
The ideal home for Alstroemeria will receive part to full sun. Water when the top layer of the soil starts to dry out. This plant has moderate water needs, but container-grown plants will frequently need water. Use rich, well-draining soil with a 5.5 to 6.5 pH.
Leave growth in place during the fall and winter and remove old or damaged growth in the spring. Remove spent flowers to keep the plant looking its best and promote more blooms. Alstroemeria prefers nitrogen-rich fertilizer every two weeks during the growing season. This plant can be propagated through division, so dig it up and gently separate the roots during the spring as needed.
Inca Replay™ Peruvian Lily Spacing
This Peruvian Lily will grow 8 to 12 inches high and 14 to 16 inches across. Plants can be spaced 16 inches apart to create a dense mass planting. Leave more space when planting near a building. One plant can comfortably live in a large container.
