Bright orange flowers with hints of pink and yellow ensure the Inca Safari Peruvian Lily will be a highlight of your landscape. This continuous bloomer delivers showy flowers spring until frost. The flowers are complemented by lance-shaped foliage in a dark green hue. Also known as the Lily of the Inca or by its scientific name, Alstroemeria, this easy-care plant grows as a perennial in USDA zones 7 through 10.
This upright plant maintains a compact size and grows 8 to 12 inches tall, so it should be featured near the front of beds where the flowers will be seen. Inca Safari Peruvian Lily can be grown in borders, mass plantings, or containers. The beautiful blooms attract pollinators like bees and make excellent cut flowers with a long vase life. Alstroemeria is a tropical plant that is native to South America.
Inca Safari™ Peruvian Lily Plant Care
Plant in full to part sun. Alstroemeria needs at least 4 to 6 hours of sunlight to thrive. Water when the top layer of the soil starts to dry out. This plant has moderate water needs, and a layer of mulch can help retain moisture. Soil should allow for drainage because while this plant likes moist conditions, it does not like soggy soil. The soil should also have rich, organic content and a 5.5 to 6.5 pH.
Feed the plant using a water-soluble fertilizer high in nitrogen. Apply fertilizer every two weeks while the plant is blooming. Remove old growth in the spring and deadhead the plant to promote more blooms. The Inca Safari Peruvian Lily can be propagated through division, and spring is the best time to separate this stunner into new plants.
Inca Safari™ Peruvian Lily Plant Spacing
This variety of Alstroemeria will reach 10 to 14 inches tall and spread out over 14 to 16 inches. Plant Inca Safari Peruvian Lily 16 inches apart from other plants to create a continuous wall of flowers and greenery or spread the plants further apart to leave space around each plant.
