Looking to add some intrigue to your garden? Look no further! Featuring glossy, dark green foliage and silky, mauve petals showcased on large double flowers, Intrigue Floribunda Rose will entrance any garden visitor. Named the All-America Rose Selections Winner of 1984, its dense, round frame will fill your garden with intrigue and delight at every turn. Marvel at its strong citrus fragrance that will lure pollinators throughout the season.
Hardy in zones 5-8, Intrigue Floribunda Rose will amaze and delight with its vivid color, ruffly blooms, and fragrance all summer long. You can leave the blooms on this showy perennial shrub, or cut some flowers and bring them inside to brighten up your space. Just make sure to prune off the thorns! You can plant it in your garden in a bed, as a hedge or border, or even plant it in a pot as a container rose. Bred from White Masterpiece and Heirloom Roses, this hybrid tea rose is incredibly disease resistant and blooms in the first year.
Intrigue Floribunda Rose Care
Plant this rose in full sun for maximum height, or partial shade. Plant at any time of the year, except in extreme weather. It does best in moist, well-drained soil, with a moderately acidic to slightly alkaline pH. Normal soil as well as loamy soil are ideal, but this rose can adapt to many different types of soils and climate conditions. It can survive very cold conditions, and is heat and humidity resistant as well. During dry weather, make sure to soak the plant about every seven to ten days, and water it less during rainy weather. Make sure to feed it plenty of fertilizer during the growing season; roses are known to be heavy feeders.
Prune in the spring by trimming old and dead canes and any canes that cross to avoid them rubbing together, which causes damage to the plant over time. In winter, trim back canes by at least one-third; in colder zones, trim back more than one-third of the volume. To protect against winter temperatures and winds, wrap plants in the ground in burlap or evergreen boughs, pile soil over the base of the plant, and mulch. Protect plants in the ground against frost in the spring by simply watering them thoroughly, which makes the ground more insulated against the cold, and covering with a plant cover, blanket, or bucket. If grown in a container, water more often, and protect against the cold by moving Intrigue Floribunda to a sheltered area facing south, for maximum sunlight and warmth. In more extreme cold weather, protect your potted roses by placing them in a cardboard box, pot and all, with shredded paper or dry leaves filling the rest of the box.
Intrigue Floribunda Rose Spacing
A mature plant will be around three to five feet in height, and two to three feet wide. Make sure to leave enough space around the plant for it to be accessible for maintenance.
