Foliage Interest

The Jasper Echeveria is perfect for brightening up an indoor spot or growing outdoors. Also known as Echeveria pulvinata 'Jasper', this succulent develops intriguing green foliage with red tips and red-yellow flowers in the summer. It grows to around 6 inches tall and thrives on minimal fuss–perfect for both beginners and experienced gardeners!

Hailing from parts of Central and South America, this succulent is both drought and heat tolerant. It is suitable for growing outdoors in zones 9 to 11 or bringing indoors to overwinter. Its small stature and low care needs make it ideal for cheering up an office desk or window sill. Alternatively, if your zone allows, plant it en masse in a rock garden for a colorful groundcover.

Jasper Echeveria Care

The Jasper Echeveria needs full sun to thrive and produce the best foliage color. This succulent requires well-drained soil with plenty of perlite or grit to lighten the potting mix. If growing in a container, make sure the pot has several drainage holes at the bottom. Water sparingly and only when the soil is dry to the touch. Fertilizing Echeverias is rarely required, but you can apply a diluted succulent fertilizer in spring if desired.

When the flowers fade, simply snip off the stalk at its base. If the bottom leaves dry out and turn brown, you can remove them by gently tugging them away from the plant.

Jasper Echeveria Spacing

The Jasper Echeveria grows to around 5 to 6 inches tall and spreads from 8 to 12 inches. If planting out as a group, a spacing of 10 to 12 inches will allow them to spread out over time.
