The Jelly Bean® Blueberry is a dwarf blueberry plant that produces a large yield of tasty, plump fruit. The Vaccinium x Jelly Bean® has a dense and compact growth habit. White flowers bloom in late spring and give way to delicious berries during July and early August. The berries can be eaten fresh or used to make jams, jellies, or pies. During the fall, this bush adds extra color to an area when a red margin appears around the edges of the green leaves.
Jelly Bean® Blueberry Care
Plant in the spring in full sun. This bush produces fruit on new canes that emerge in the spring. Once the last of the crop is picked, prune the plant to remove canes that produced berries to encourage new canes and more berries in the next growing season.
Growing Jelly Bean® Blueberry
This easy-care blueberry bush will produce a crop in the first year. Mature plants will reach 1 to 2 feet tall and wide, making this compact bush an excellent container plant.
Growing Jelly Bean® Blueberry in Containers
This compact and upright bush thrives as a container planting. Grow the Jelly Bean® Blueberry in a 12-inch container and water when the top layer of the soil is dry.
Watering Jelly Bean® Blueberry
Water weekly or when the top couple of inches of soil dries out. Plants grown in containers will need more frequent watering.
Feeding Jelly Bean® Blueberry
Feeding the bush will keep it healthy and productive. Apply a balanced organic plant food each spring to support new growth.
