The unique pom pom flowers on this clematis will have your neighbors guessing what type of climbing plant this is. It produces large 5-inch blossoms with many pink frilly petals surrounded by eight large pink petals with a deep pink stripe in the center. This perennial plant will be covered in blooms from June through August. It will have a 1 t to 2 foot spread with a soaring height between 6 and 8 feet tall. Josephine Clematis will thrive in full to partially sunny locations in planting zones 4 to 9.

This plant will add vertical floral interest to your garden trellis, wall, fence, or arbor. Plant Josephine Clematis in a large pot placed near a structure it can climb. It will act in the thriller role in a container garden. It’s deer and rabbit resistant. This clematis will attract bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds to your garden.

Josephine Clematis Care

Water this clematis moderately and consistently. Add a balanced fertilizer in the spring and continue fertilizing throughout the growing season as directed on the package. There’s no need to deadhead this plant for flowers to be produced all summer long.

Josephine Clematis is in pruning group 2, which means it produces flowers on new wood and old wood. In the early spring (February or March), prune 12 inches from each shoot above the first pair of new swollen leaf buds. Remove any dead or damaged stems at the same time. Josephine Clematis produces early-season blooms on the previous season’s growth. Later in the season, a second flush of flowers appears on new growth.

Josephine Clematis Spacing

Space individual clematis plants 2 feet apart. Add multiple clematises with different flower colors to create a dramatic visual effect in your garden.

    Tiny...

Paid almost $50 with shipping for a puny plant that took months to arrive. Feeling duped, never buying from here again. I could have just gone to my local nursery and picked one up about 3x the size for less money.
