If you are searching for a stunning and fragrant rose that is Northern hardy, you may have just found it. The Julia Child™ Floribunda Rose is a beautiful floribunda type that produces delightfully scented yellow blooms all summer long. With a compact and dense habit, its foliage is a lovely mid-green that has great disease resistance. With a little care, Julia Child™ Floribunda Rose will keep flowering from early spring until the fall.
Being Northern hardy, this rose is suited to growing in zones 5 to 8. As a smaller shrub, Julia Child™ is perfectly matched for growing as a specimen in a container or border. It looks equally impressive when planted out as a group and can be used to form a low-growing informal, but show-stopping hedge. With its seductive scent, you’ll want to plant it somewhere it can be enjoyed and used for cut flowers inside the home.
Julia Child™ Floribunda Rose Care
To encourage this floribunda to flower all summer long, it should be planted where it will receive full sun. As with all roses, Julia Child™ thrives in fertile, moist, but well-drained soil with a pH of around 6.5. To help maintain this plant’s health and give it the nutrients it requires to flourish, a rose-specific fertilizer can be applied as per the manufacturer’s guidelines. Newly planted roses need to be watered every few days until they are established, after which, a weekly watering is generally about right depending on the conditions.
As the blooms fade, they should be regularly deadheaded to encourage future flowers. To prune this rose, remove any dead or diseased branches, and shorten the remaining stems to around 8 inches, making a cut just above a bud. To help prevent any disease, any pruning tools should be sanitized and sharpened prior to use.
Julia Child™ Floribunda Rose Spacing
When established, the Julia Child™ Floribunda Rose can reach 3-4 feet tall and wide. A spacing distance of approximately 3 feet is advisable when planting this rose out as part of a group.
