The Ka-Pow® Coral Phlox boasts large flowers that are stunning on their own but bloom in clusters for an even more dazzling array. This Phlox paniculata 'Balsukaco’ has coral flowers with dark pinkish-purple accents around the eye. The mostly flat petals have a gentle wave that adds subtle dimension. Glossy green foliage comes to a point and gives the shrub a full and lush look.
The upright growth habit and large flower clusters add color to a mixed bed or container. Feature the Ka-Pow® Coral Phlox in a border or a busy area where the fragrant flowers can be fully appreciated. Pollinators enjoy the flowers, and hummingbirds, bees, and butterflies flock to the plant. This Phlox resists powdery mildew, allowing it to handle humid summer weather. Grow Ka-Pow® Coral Phlox in zones 4 through 9.
Ka-Pow® Coral Phlox Care
The Ka-Pow® Coral Phlox needs full sun and rich, moist, well-drained soil. Depending on rainfall, this plant typically requires one inch of water weekly. Increase water during a dry spell. Apply a balanced fertilizer each spring.
Remove faded flowers to maintain a neat appearance. In the fall, after a heavy frost, prune all growth to ground level. Apply a layer of mulch to protect the roots from chilly weather.
Ka-Pow® Coral Phlox Spacing
The Ka-Pow® Coral Phlox reaches 1 to 2 feet tall and wide. Space plants 1 to 2 feet apart, center on center, and leave enough space for air to flow around the foliage.
