Hummingbirds and butterflies look for brightly colored flowers and they will flock to Ka-Pow White Bicolor Garden Phlox. This easy-care perennial returns year after year to show off rounded stalks of pink and white flowers on a compact plant. And these blooms have lasting power. Garden phlox typically begin to bloom in early to mid-summer and continue their color run for 6 weeks.
Ka-Pow attracts plenty of pollinators to its two-toned floral landing pad, but resists munching by deer and rabbits. It’s also bred to be resistant to powdery mildew. Best of all, it can grow in a wide range of regions, from the cold of zone 4 to the heat of zone 9. At nearly 18 inches high and around, it can fill up a garden bed as a mass planting or act as a container thriller near the patio, so you can watch its flying visitors come and go.
Ka-Pow White Bicolor Garden Phlox Care
This easy-care plant really relies on only sun and water to produce its stunning summer color, so it is very low maintenance. But be sure to pick a spot with full sun, at least 6 hours a day. Avoid planting too close to trees or large shrubs, which can shade it and compete for water and nutrients. It prefers soil that drains well, but can retain some moisture. So add some compost to the planting hole and a layer or organic mulch around your phlox after planting.
Water regularly so that the soil does not dry out, watering in the morning if possible. Each spring, just add some manure or compost to the top of the soil, work it in and water. Or use a light application of balanced fertilizer.
Ka-Pow White Bicolor Garden Phlox Spacing
Although Ka-Pow is bred to resist mildew, it still should have plenty of air circulation, so avoid planting it too close to other garden plants. If planting a grouping of these stunning flowers, space the plants about 18 inches apart.
