Nepeta faassenii has a compact and rounded structure, and when this plant blooms, it will be completely engulfed in tiny flowers. Purple calyxes and periwinkle flowers bloom on the tall stems during the summer and fall.
Bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are drawn to the flowers, while the aromatic foliage attracts cats. Grow this upright, petit plant in a bed, border, or mass planting, like a butterfly garden. Catmint needs full to partial sun to thrive. This perennial is drought-tolerant and prefers dry, well-drained soil. Water when the top several inches of soil dry out. Fertilization is unnecessary, but a balanced plant food applied during the spring can help get the plant off to a strong start.
Trim the growth back in late fall or early spring, and during the season, the growth can be cut back by up to one-third if the plant appears leggy.
