For height and visual impact, you will be hard pressed to beat the Knock Out® Double Red Rose Tree. Growing to a height of around 5 feet, this Rosa 'Radtko' forms a lush canopy of green foliage and ornate double flowers from late spring into the fall. This rose tree is easy to grow and bound to draw interest wherever you decide to grow it.
The clear single “trunk” and large rounded canopy make the Knock Out® Double Red Rose Tree ideal for the back of a border, large container or accent planting. It has great resistance against black spot and is considered winter hardy down to USDA zone 5. The showy blooms up to 3 inches across are sure to make a big statement on this unique tree form.
Knock Out® Double Red Rose Tree Care
The Knock Out® Double Red Rose Tree is happy when it is planted in full to partial sun. As with other roses, it favors fertile, moist and well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Water deeply upon planting and from then on to keep the soil moist. Fertilize with a specific rose feed as directed to prolong blooming and maintain plant health.
Deadheading is not strictly required but can lead to a tidier look. Prune in late spring back to an outward-facing bud, and remove any dead or diseased wood. Rose trees grown in a container will need more frequent irrigation, especially during the summer months to keep the soil moist.
Knock Out® Double Red Rose Tree Spacing
The Knock Out® Double Red Rose Tree grows to 4 to 5 feet tall with a canopy 3 to 4 feet wide. A plant spacing of 4 to 5 feet apart, center on center, will allow for a well-defined canopy.
