Laguna Royale Azure Lobelia showcases true medium-blue blooms that hold their color and keep flowering well past the point where many blues fizzle out. Lobelia erinus ‘WNLOBLRA26’ grows 8–12 inches tall and 10–12 inches wide, forming a compact mound that stays neat in small containers and along bed edges. It maintains its polished habit in warm weather and won't turn sparse or awkward halfway through summer. That clear blue shade is also harder to find in compact annuals, which makes it especially valuable in mixed plantings.
This lobelia blooms from planting to frost and sheds spent flowers on its own. Bees and butterflies visit often, especially when you plant it in groups. It’s a strong fit for window boxes, hanging baskets, and low borders where you want a clean line of color. Tuck it into rock and crevice gardens, too; its mound fills small gaps without smothering nearby plants.
Laguna Royale Azure Lobelia Care
Grow Lobelia erinus ‘WNLOBLRA26’ in part sun to sun for the best bloom, with at least 4 hours of direct light each day. Use a well-drained, moderately rich soil and keep pH near neutral, about 6.0–7.0. Plant at the same depth as the nursery pot and water in thoroughly to settle the roots. Water when the soil surface has dried, then let excess drain away—this lobelia dislikes constantly wet soil. Feed regularly during the season, especially in containers, to keep the plant pushing new buds.
If flowering pauses during a run of very warm nights, trim the plant lightly to encourage fresh branching. New growth comes quickly, and the next bloom flush follows as conditions moderate.
Laguna Royale Azure Lobelia Spacing
Space plants 6–8 inches apart for fast fill and a continuous band of bloom. For containers, three plants fill a 10–12 inch pot, while five to seven plants suit a 14–16 inch window box. Combine it with African daisies (Osteospermum), dusty miller (Senecio cineraria), and sweet potato vine (Ipomoea batatas) for a sun-friendly mix that highlights the blue flowers with contrasting foliage and blooms.
