Lanai White Verbena is one of those indispensable summer annuals that can do many things. Rounded white flowers cover stems with green leaves. It blooms spring into fall, tolerating a few chills before succumbing to a hard freeze. It gently sprawls over the edge of a container or fills in some empty spots. At up to 10 inches tall and 18 inches wide, Lanai White verbena can provide a summer ground cover, too.
The flowers are pure white with tiny chartreuse centers that butterflies visit. The plant is disease resistant. Verbena is probably one of the best spillers for pots. It also does well as a summer ground cover or edging plant in the landscape. Lanai verbena comes in five other colors, too.
Lanai® White Verbena Care
Verbena is heat tolerant and does not need to have spent flowers removed (called deadheading) to keep this beauty blooming all summer. In some parts of the country, Lanai verbena may act like a short-lived perennial in the landscape, coming back for a year or two.
Verbena could be grown as a houseplant if given full sun, but it might struggle. Verbena is sometimes susceptible to spider mites.
Lanai® White Verbena Spacing
Plant one to three Lanai White verbenas in any size container. Verbena sprawls a bit among companion plants in a good way, adding the role of filler to its spiller characteristics. In the ground, space 12 to 18 inches apart.
