The Layla™ Presto Blue Lavender is an early bloomer with large, fragrant flowers on a compact framework. The violet-blue flowers grow on upright stems and measure a staggering 4 inches long. The Lavandula angustifolia 'Presto Blue' blooms from early summer into fall. Green, lance-shaped foliage complements the flowers.
The mounded, upright growth stays a compact size, making this perennial a good pick for a mixed bed or a container. The plant will not overwhelm or outgrow a space, allowing for more hands-off gardening. Create a low hedge, foundation planting, or spectacular mass planting. The blooms make wonderful cut flowers, and pollinators also enjoy the impressive and fragrant flowers. The Layla™ Presto Blue Lavender grows in zones 5 through 9.
Layla™ Presto Blue Lavender Care
Plant this Lavender in lean, well-drained soil that is slightly alkaline. Situate the plant in full sun. The Layla™ Presto Blue Lavender is drought tolerant once established and rarely needs supplemental water except during an extended dry period. Lavender plants are not heavy feeders, but they can be mulched with a light layer of compost to support growth.
Prune the Layla™ Presto Blue Lavender after the first flush of flowers fades to encourage a full form. Trim again around late summer when the final flowers decline.
