Growing Zones
For an injection of color that lasts all summer long, this coreopsis is ideal. From the Li'l Bang™ series, Enchanted Red Tickseed displays deep red flowers with a contrasting yellow center. With its low and spreading habit, this tickseed is perfect for the front of a bed or a border. Even though small in size, Li'l Bang™ Enchanted Red Tickseed adds a big impact wherever it is grown.
Being drought resistant once established, this coreopsis is low maintenance and easy to care for. Coreopsis is native to North America and suitable for growing in zones 4 to 8. Thankfully resistant to deer and rabbits, Li'l Bang™ Enchanted Red Tickseed can be grown worry-free in rural landscapes. As a small and drought-tolerant plant, it is well suited to container growing.
Li'l Bang™ Enchanted Red Tickseed Care
To put on its best display, Li'l Bang™ Enchanted Red Tickseed should be planted in full sun. It prefers free-draining soil, so any ground that is prone to waterlogging is best avoided. Although fairly drought-tolerant once settled, it will need regular watering for the first season at least. To promote its flowers all summer long, a slow-release, balanced fertilizer can be added in spring.
Deadheading throughout the growing season will keep a neat and tidy appearance. Once the foliage has died back in the fall, the stems can be cut to the base and removed to make way for new growth in spring. In northern areas or frost pockets, any container-grown plants can be placed under cover to protect them from the cold and winter storms.
Li'l Bang™ Enchanted Red Tickseed Spacing
Lower growing than most coreopsis varieties, Li'l Bang™ Enchanted Red Tickseed can grow to an eventual 8-10 inches high by 15-18 inches wide. If planting this tickseed out as part of a group, it can be planted 15-18 inches apart from its neighbor.
