Looking to help native pollinators in your area. Li'l Bang™ Red Elf Tickseed is a long-blooming North American native that is sure to bring smiles and butterflies to your backyard. The flowers have radiant golden centers with dark red velvet petals. Coreopsis is compact, only reaching 8 to 12 inches in height. It forms a beautiful rounded mound and its blooms last all Summer long.
These dwarf beauties were bred to be tough and drought-resistant. Its upright habit makes a great filler in containers since it will spread slightly up to 10 to 15 inches. The deep red color makes a red carpet appeal that can be showcased front and center along border walkways.
Li'l Bang Red Elf Tickseed Care
Coreopsis thrives in the full sun. These flowers are not picky. Any old soil will do. Just give this plant well-draining soil and let the flowers do all the work. No deadheading is required. Shear the first flush of blooms when flowers start to decline. Trimming will help keep flowers vigorous till early fall. Not much care is needed in fertilizing. Applying a top dressing of compost annually is all that is needed.
Coreopsis is hardy to zones 5 to 9. Fall temperatures cause the plant to go dormant, so applying 2 inches of mulch will help to protect and insulate roots over the Winter months. No need to tidy up or prune in the winter since a flush of new growth will persist come Spring.
Li'l Bang Red Elf Tickseed Spacing
Give Coreopsis room to grow by spacing each plant 15 inches on center in the landscape. Try Li'l Bang™ Red Elf in the most unlikely places like a rock garden. Prepare to be amazed!
