The hot pink flowers of the Li'l Raspberry™ Butterfly Bush attract many pollinators and introduce vibrant color into a space. The individual flowers are tiny but bloom in cone-shaped clusters, creating a more impressive display. The monochromatic flowers are the same deep pink hue throughout. The Buddleia davidii Butterfly Candy™ Lil' Raspberry™ blooms from summer through fall. Dark green foliage comes to a point and gives the plant a lush look.
This fast-growing plant has an upright, bushy form that works well in a butterfly garden and is also a good pick near a vegetable garden. The flowers encourage bees, butterflies, and other pollinators to visit the area. Feature the Li'l Raspberry™ Butterfly Bush in a mixed bed or create a low hedge or foundation planting. This beauty is deer resistant for added peace of mine in rural areas. Grow the Li'l Raspberry™ Butterfly Bush in zones 4 through 11.
Li'l Raspberry™ Butterfly Bush Care
Plant this perennial in full to part sun and use moist, well-drained, fertile soil. The Li'l Raspberry™ Butterfly Bush is somewhat drought tolerant but flowers best with evenly moist soil. Apply a layer of organic compost to slow evaporation, reduce weeds, and give the plant a nutritional boost.
Prune the shrub in the spring to remove overgrowth and create a tidy appearance. Remove no more than one-third of the growth to encourage branching and create a full form. Trim spent flowers to prolong the blooming period.
Li'l Raspberry™ Butterfly Bush Spacing
Li'l Raspberry™ Butterfly Bushes stand 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. Create a continuous planting by spacing shrubs 2 to 3 feet apart.
