Growing Zones
Little Hottie® Hydrangea is a resilient, medium-sized shrub with loaded, white to soft-pink, mophead flowers that bloom in the summer, and provide an interesting contrast to its vibrant, green foliage. Reaching a mature height of 3 to 5 feet with a symmetrical spread of 3 to 5 feet, the flowers of this fragrant hydrangea unfurl in graceful green clusters atop robust stems. These blooms transform in summer, blanching to an elegant, pristine white before blushing in fall with a delicate pink hue.
Bred in the southern United States for its heat tolerance, Little Hottie® will not wilt or brown in the summer sun and is a fantastic option in any climate, hot or cool. Its compact, mounded form with natural basal branching provides unique color all season long. These low-maintenance hydrangeas make excellent, long-lasting cut flowers, and you can both dry and preserve the flowers for a winter arrangement.
Little Hottie® Hydrangea Care
Little Hottie® Hydrangea can thrive in full sun to partial shade, and should be watered deeply and regularly until established. Mature plants need average water, but can withstand more sun exposure than other hydrangeas. You should feed your Little Hottie® yearly with organic fertilizer. It prefers moist soil with good drainage.
Your Little Hottie® will not require much pruning, but if you would like to prune your hydrangeas for size control or shape, it is best to do it in the early spring before new growth begins.
Little Hottie® Hydrangea Spacing
When planting, space your Little Hottie® Hydrangea a minimum of 2 feet apart from center to center. Hydrangeas need adequate air flow to maximize their blooming potential. The Little Hottie® Hydrangea is gorgeous, planted in a shady, compact space, or in pots and containers with proper drainage. A favorite of florists, the beautiful blooms of the Little Hottie® are striking in arrangements and bouquets.
