The aptly named Little Miss Sunshine Stonecrop Sedum is bound to brighten up your garden. Producing a profusion of little star-shaped yellow flowers from midsummer, this sedum might just become a firm favorite. Noted for its compact and low form, Little Miss Sunshine develops dark green glossy leaves that set off its cheerful blooms above. This succulent is tough and versatile for a multitude of garden situations.
Whether planted individually or en masse, Little Miss Sunshine Stonecrop Sedum will add interest and impact to any sunny spot. It is perfect for providing ground cover or for dotting around a gravel or rock garden. As a rabbit-resistant perennial plant, this stonecrop is ideal for both urban and rural locations alike. When in bloom, it will be adored by bees and butterflies.
Little Miss Sunshine Stonecrop Sedum Care
Once established, Little Miss Sunshine needs little care and is drought tolerant. It does however need to be grown in full sun and on a well-drained substrate. As a light feeder, it does not require any extra fertilization and can cope with poor soils. Even though this sedum can tolerate dry conditions, it will need to be watered regularly after planting and until it has developed a good root system.
Once flowered, any spent blooms can either be removed or left to feed the birds over the colder months. Pruning is rarely required, although a light trim in spring can help keep this plant to shape.
Little Miss Sunshine Stonecrop Sedum Spacing
Little Miss Sunshine can reach a maximum of 6-8 inches high and 15-18 inches wide. When planting this stonecrop as a group for all-out impact, a spacing of 14-16 inches is recommended.
