Imagine all the benefits of a butterfly bush packed into a dwarf plant with white flowers. That's Lo and Behold Ice Chip Butterfly Bush (Buddleia). And those benefits are numerous — it is drought tolerant, heat tolerant, resistant to deer and rabbits, but irresistible to butterflies and hummingbirds. Each summer, pretty cone-shaped blossoms appear in graceful white above the creamy green leaves. This is one of the most versatile and rewarding plants you can place in your landscape or a container.

Here's another benefit of Behold Ice Chip Butterfly Bush: it is not invasive like some varieties, so you can grow this dwarf buddleia in any state in zones 5 through 9. Because it grows only 1.5 to 2 feet tall and 2.5 feet wide, this dwarf butterfly bush makes a pretty groundcover in a sunny area of the landscape. Plant several together for a white carpet on which pollinators can land. The blooms appear in summer and continue to appear through early fall.

Lo and Behold Ice Chip Butterfly Bush Care

Like all buddleias, Behold Ice Chip Butterfly Bush needs a little extra water for its first year. After that, it should thrive on rainwater only. Just be sure to plant your butterfly bush in a container or soil that drains well. It will bloom continuously through summer with no deadheading. Prune your shrub back in early spring just above new green leaves that emerge after winter. It's that simple to grow!

Lo and Behold Ice Chip Butterfly Bush Spacing

Sometimes called "Summer Lilac," Behold Ice Chip Butterfly Bush is not a lilac at all, and instead boasts the drought tolerance of the buddleias. If planting a group of these buddleias as a border or groundcover, space them 2 to 3 feet apart.

Interesting Fact(s) - This plant is sometimes called "summer lilac" instead of a "butterfly bush."
