If you’re wanting to bring hummingbirds to your yard, the Lydia Tecoma is a fantastic choice. It blooms with bright yellow trumpet shaped flowers during its long bloom season. The Lydia Tecoma loves the sun and will look remarkable from spring to first frost. It is also a popular choice for cut flowers!
The Lydia Tecoma has wide, deep green foliage. It produces clusters of compact trumpet shaped yellow blooms from its stems. Bloom season is generous, lasting from early spring to the first frost. It is a continuous rebloomer throughout the season. This one reaches a height of five to six feet and grows to be five feet wide. Plant for its cut flowers, as an accent or focal point, in border plantings, or mass plantings.
Lydia Tecoma Care
Plant in full sun, ensure it receives 6 or more hours of sun per day. Plant in well drained garden soil. Water needs are average. The Lydia Tecoma is tolerant to most soil types and varying Ph levels. Watering regularly during its first season to help it develop deep roots. Fertilize in the spring and summer with granular fertilizer. Deadheading will help to promote rebloom. Pruning Lydia Tecoma should be done only after the plant is done blooming or after a hard frost.
Lydia Tecoma Spacing
For a seamless evergreen hedge or border, space your Lydia Tecoma around three feet apart, center on center. Or you can plant them over 5 feet apart for more space between the plants in a mass planting.
