Mariachi Salsa Sneezeweed is a bright and bold perennial with beautiful blooms. The dark red notched petals are narrow at the base and flare at the ends for a dramatic look. Also known as Helenium autumnale, the beautiful flowers are on display from June through the first frost. The daisy-like flowers retain their bold color even when exposed to the intense summer sun.
A rounded form and dense, upright growth habit make this plant a wonderful addition to a bed, border, or mass planting. Mariachi Salsa Sneezeweed does well in damp conditions, so plant near wetlands or on a stream or pond bank. Butterflies will visit the lovely blooms. The Mariachi Salsa Sneezeweed is a hardy plant that grows as a perennial in USDA zones 3 through 8.
Mariachi Salsa Sneezeweed Care
Plant in full sun because this stunner needs at least 6 hours of sunlight. Soil should be rich, moist, and well-drained. Water weekly or when the top couple inches of soil are dry. Apply a balanced fertilizer in the spring to support new growth.
This plant is a herbaceous perennial, and growth can be trimmed back to a couple of inches in the fall.
Mariachi Salsa Sneezeweed Spacing
This upright, compact plant will grow 18 to 20 inches tall and 20 to 24 inches wide. Space plants 20 to 24 inches apart when featured in a mass planting.
