Enjoy beautiful flowers throughout the summer with the Max Frei Cranesbill Geranium. This low-maintenance plant has cup-shaped flowers in a magenta-pink hue for a burst of color, especially when contrasted against the deep green foliage. The leaves are lobed or divided and have scalloped edges for a dense and full look. This perennial is a continuous bloomer that starts flowering in late spring and continues into the summer. You can encourage more flowers by deadheading this plant. The foliage turns a vibrant red for a seasonal burst of color in the fall.

Geraniums are easy to maintain, and this cultivar is no exception. Plant near the front of beds, borders, and containers since this perennial will reach 10 to 12 inches tall. Group several for a lush and continuous display of blooms and foliage, or include them in a mixed bed for a more eclectic look. Grow the Max Frei Geranium as a perennial in USDA zones 5 through 8.

Max Frei Geranium Care

This beauty needs well-drained, moist soil. Plant this Geranium in full sun to partial shade and water when the top several inches of the soil are dry. Container-grown plants will need water more often. Remove spent flowers and dead leaves to encourage more growth. Cut back all growth in the fall.

Get this plant off to a good start in the spring by applying balanced fertilizer. Top dress the soil with organic compost for a continued release of nutrients throughout the season.

Max Frei Geranium Spacing

The Max Frei Geranium is a clump-forming perennial that will only reach 10 to 12 inches tall but spread out 18 to 24 inches. Space plants 15 inches apart for a dense planting.
