Meant to Bee™ Queen Nectarine Anise Hyssop should be included in any herb or pollinator garden plan. The sturdy, tall spikes of pale flowers and deep mauve calyxes bloom nonstop from late spring to fall. The long-lasting and fragrant green foliage is perfect for adding to either fresh or dried flower arrangements. Butterflies, hummingbirds, and other beneficial pollinators cannot resist the nectar of Agastache.
This herbaceous perennial has a natural resistance to deer, rabbits, and diseases such as mildew and fungal rust. The pale color of Queen Nectarine blends into pastel flower schemes as well as complementing a bright jewel-colored scheme. Plant Queen Nectarine as a filler in a large planter of mixed seasonal plants to enhance any patio or deck. Agastache also brings a naturalized element to the garden when planted en masse with other pollinator-attracting plants such as coneflower, lavender, and yarrow.
Meant to Bee™ Queen Nectarine Anise Hyssop Care
Anise Hyssop prefers average-texture soil that drains well and has average to low fertility. A neutral soil pH is perfect for Hyssop. Heavy clay soil must be amended with organic compost to ensure enough drainage year-round for this Mediterranean perennial. Choose a location that receives full sun for most of the day. Watering Queen Nectarine deeply 2-3 times a week will encourage the roots to grow deep in the soil, resulting in a very hardy plant that can tolerate periods of drought.
Deadheading of this perennial is not required to keep it looking good through the summer. As the pale tangerine flowers die back, the mauve calyxes remain on the stem and provide color until the normal die-back of the whole plant late in the fall. Deadheading can be used to tidy up container-grown Hyssop. The spent top growth can be left in place over winter to add insulation and protection to the growing crown in the colder USA zones.
Meant to Bee™ Queen Nectarine Anise Hyssop Spacing
Queen Nectarine is a compact variety of Anise Hyssop and works great for smaller and container gardens. The mature height and spread are 3 feet; space plants 30 inches apart on center when planting in a large group. Queen Nectarine will require a container with at least a 12-inch diameter.
