- Mature Height 10 - 12 Inches
- Mature Spread 10 - 12 Inches
- Growing Zones 4 - 8
Like a piece of fine art the leaves of this perennial look like they were painted by Jackson Pollock himself. The dark purple leaves appear in spring splashed with hot pink and turn to light pink and cream as the leaves mature over the season. Slender purple 24 inch stems carry bell-shaped, cream-white flowers high above the contrasting 10 inch tall foliage from late spring to midsummer on plants that can have a 1 to 2 foot spread.
This compact, rounded, vigorous grower is semi-evergreen with good resistance to powdery mildew, requiring little maintenance. It is pest, disease free and not preferred by deer. Does best a moist location but will tolerate a dry area once established. A fantastic addition to any perennial border, walkway, planter or container that is in need of a splash of color. Any pot or container used should have a minimum height and width of 24 inches to protect the roots in winter. Winter hardy in zones 4 to 9.
Midnight Rose Coral Bells Care
Plant in full sun or partial shade in rich, moist but well-drained soil that is slightly acidic. A light mulch in winter is preferred to help protect roots.
Deadheading of spent blooms is encouraged in order to promote flowering. Clumps can be divided every 3 to 4 years.
Midnight Rose Coral Bells Spacing
Plant with a spacing of about 12 to 18 inches apart. The showy foliage on this perennial would brighten any walkway, front entry or perennial bed it was planted in. It would make a fine addition to any rock garden, woodland guardian or as a multipurpose groundcover. Looks best when planted in groups.
