Perfect for any bouquet! This Mini Penny Hydrangea is a proficient re-bloomer that will last from spring to early fall. It has an adorable rounded habit that will compliment any space! It has the ability to thrive in some shade. Its big leaves paired with colorful blooms makes it the perfect addition to any landscape!

The foliage of this Hydrangea is a rich green with the leaves being four to eight inches long. The blooms that start to appear in the spring can vary in color depending on the Ph level of the soil. The more acidic the soil the more blue blooms you will get. The lower the acidity, the blooms will be more pink and lilac. The Mini Penny Hydrangea reaches a height of up to four feet tall and wide. Use this Hydrangea as a border plant, or for screening. It makes a stunning focal point, and its flowers are perfect for bouquets.

Mini Penny Hydrangea Care

Plant this Hydrangea in full sun to part sun. Plant in well-drained moist soil. If planted directly in sunlight be sure that the soil is consistently moist. It has average water needs. This Hydrangea can tolerate a variety of Ph levels. The Ph level determines the color of the Mini Penny Hydrangea. More acidic will produce more blue blooms. The more alkaline the pinker you will see. Fertilizer should be applied as early as possible by starting in the late fall or early spring. If pruning is desired do so after flowering. remove dead branches each year in the early spring. In cooler climates, mulching around the base is beneficial.

Correct spacing is important. When planting in proximity to other plants, using as a hedge, screening or as a border plant spacing for your Mini Penny Hydrangea should be, at minimum 3’ feet, center on center.

Interesting Facts: Mini Penny was developed by Michael Dirr of the University of Georgia Research Foundation from a seedling of an open-pollinated Hydrangea macrophylla 'Penny Mac'.
