Monhegan Blend™ Organic & Natural Black Earth Lawn Soil is a compost-based lawn builder to help grass fill in. This OMRI Certified blend of composted manure, sphagnum peat moss, and aged bark balances structure, moisture retention, drainage, and aeration to improve results when seeding, overseeding, or repairing thin lawn areas. It spreads easily for topdressing and helps hold moisture around seed during germination. We recommend it for fall overseeding and spring touch-ups to provide better seed-to-soil contact and a more even surface.

This blend is also useful beyond turf. Work it into depleted garden soil to add organic matter and improve tilth, or refresh beds with a quick top-dress to avoid hauling bulk compost. For lawns, the best results come from applying it as a thin layer, then raking it in so it settles down into the grass canopy instead of sitting on top.

Product Tips

• For established lawns, top-dress 1/4" to 1/2" at least once per year, ideally in spring or late fall.
• For overseeding, mix seed and soil together before spreading for more even coverage.
• After application, lightly rake to level, then tamp or roll to improve seed contact before watering.
• For low spots, overfill slightly, tamp down, smooth with a rake, then seed, mulch, and water.
