Growing Zones
With a name like Moonshadow Euonymus, you may not have visions of bright, sunny golden yellow, but that is precisely what this stunning perennial offers. Bright green leaves are broad and come to a gentle point and feature splashes of bright yellow in the center. This bold variegation provides an eye-catching display and serves as a lovely backdrop for the yellow flowers that bloom in early spring.
Woody stems and an upright, mounded growth habit give this broadleaf evergreen a full appearance. Plant in a bed, border, or mass planting for year-round color. The striking variegated foliage makes this stunner a natural focal point. Grow this plant as a perennial in USDA zones 4 through 8.
Moonshadow Euonymus Care
Increased light levels will encourage more intense variegation, so while this plant can live in full to partial sun, select a spot with full light to promote more saturated yellow tones. Medium quality soil that is moist and well-drained and has a pH of 6.0 to 8.0 is best. Water the Moonshadow Euonymus when the top few inches of soil are dry.
Fertilize this stunner in the fall using a balanced plant food to support abundant growth the following spring. This plant is a fast and aggressive grower, so maintain a desired size or shape by pruning after the flowers fade.
Moonshadow Euonymus Spacing
The Moonshadow Euonymus will reach 2 to 3 feet tall and 3 to 5 feet wide. When creating a hedge or mass planting, this vigorously growing plant can be spaced 2 to 4 feet apart.
