Whether you have a challenging landscape or if you are a forgetful gardener, Moonshine Yarrow may be the perfect plant for you. Vibrant canary-yellow clusters of tiny flowers bloom from June through September. The lovely flowers sit atop tall stems that have silvery foliage. Achillea filipendulina is a hardy plant that can handle just any about weather, from cold and warm temperatures and drought conditions. This perennial is low maintenance, and once it is established, it does not require much attention.
At 18 to 24 inches tall, this perennial will look best in a spot that can handle taller plants, so feature near the middle or back of a bed where it will not overshadow smaller plants. Feature the Moonshine Yarrow in beds, borders, mass plantings, or containers. This plant has an upright growth habit, and it is a vigorous grower that can easily take over a space. Pollinators are attracted to the fragrant blooms, but foraging animals tend to keep away.
Moonshine Yarrow Care
Plant Moonshine Yarrow in full sun. This stunner needs at least 6 hours of daily sunlight. Give the plant about one inch of water per week. This plant is drought-tolerant once established but keep up with watering until it feels at home. Soil should be rich, dry to medium, and well-drained. Yarrow is a vigorous grower without fertilizer, and feeding this plant may cause it to become invasive, so avoid fertilizing this perennial.
Remove spent blooms to encourage the plant to rebloom during the summer. Deadheading the plant will also prevent the plant from self-seeding. Prune the Yarrow after the flowers die back to maintain the size.
Moonshine Yarrow Spacing
The tall stems of the Moonshine Yarrow will reach 18 to 24 inches tall, and this plant will cover an area 18 to 24 inches wide. Plants can be spaced 18 to 24 inches apart to create a full and lush planting.
