Classic good looks and a slight fragrance are the hallmarks of the Navy Lady Rose. Semi-double flowers in a deep red hue almost appear to have a velvety texture. Flowers bloom in loose clusters, giving this continuous blooming shrub a showy appearance. Expect blooms from spring through fall. Green ovate-shaped foliage has serrated edges and narrows to a point.
This bushy shrub is compact and will grow 2 to 3 feet tall and wide, making it an excellent low hedge or border. Include in a mass planting for gorgeous color throughout the growing season. Cut the stems to feature the stunning flowers in arrangements. The hardy Navy Lady Rose grows as a perennial in USDA zones 4 through 8.
Navy Lady Rose Care
This deciduous shrub needs full sun. Plant in rich soil that is moist and well-drained. Maintain consistent soil moisture. Feed this shrub using a balanced fertilizer in the spring, after the first flush of flowers blooms, and near the end of July for a third and final time.
Remove spent flowers to promote more buds to emerge. Trim back all growth by one-third in the spring to encourage more full and dense growth.
