Growing Zones
The tidy form of the Neatball™ Boxwood makes this shrub an excellent hedge, while the dark evergreen foliage provides consistent, year-round color. The tiny leaves have a rounded appearance and provide fine texture and an overall full form. The Buxus microphylla 'NSBBL' is tough, hardy, and easy to maintain.
The Neatball™ Boxwood is compact and works well as a low hedge or foundation planting. Define an area without obstructing a view or enjoy color all year, even during the winter. The foliage is deer resistant, so this shrub is a dependable addition to a landscape. Keep the natural form or enjoy a manicured look with routine pruning. Grow the Neatball™ Boxwood in zones 5 through 9.
Neatball™ Boxwood Care
Plant the Neatball™ Boxwood in full to part sun for best performance. It prefers a sandy or loamy soil with high organic content. Newly planted shrubs need regular watering, while established boxwoods only need water during an extended dry spell. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer annually in the spring.
Prune as needed in early spring. Remove crossed branches or damaged growth to maintain a natural form, or create a topiary and shape the shrub into a specific form.
Neatball™ Boxwood Spacing
Mature Neatball™ Boxwood stands at 2 to 3 feet tall and wide. Space shrubs 2 to 3 feet apart when creating a hedge or continuous planting.
