Obsession Nandina, Nandina domestica ‘Seika’, is a compact evergreen shrub valued for its striking seasonal color and easy-care nature. In spring, new foliage emerges in brilliant shades of red, creating a vivid accent in the garden. As the leaves mature, they transition to a rich deep green, providing year-round interest.
Also known as Heavenly Bamboo, Obsession Nandina is an excellent choice for borders, mass plantings, colorful hedges, or as a standout accent shrub in any landscape design.
Obsession Nandina Care
Plant Obsession Nandina in well-drained soil and water regularly until established. Once mature, this shrub is water-wise and tolerant of less frequent watering. Apply a balanced, slow-release fertilizer each spring to promote lush foliage and steady growth. If needed, prune back to the ground in early spring to rejuvenate older plants and maintain a compact habit.
Obsession Nandina Spacing
For mass plantings or use in the shrub border, space plants about 5 feet apart, center to center. When creating a hedge, reduce spacing to 3 to 4 feet apart for a fuller, more uniform look.
