Orange Glow™ Knock Out Rose Tree gives you that classic patio “lollipop” silhouette with nonstop orange blooms. Mature size lands around 3–4 feet tall and 3–4 feet wide, which is large enough to become a focal point but still easy to place near a walk or entry. It carries the Knock Out® family’s strong disease resistance and self-cleaning flowering habit, so you’re not stuck deadheading and spraying to keep it presentable. We like using the tree form when a bed needs height without adding a big shrub mass, especially in smaller front gardens.
Rosa ‘Radslam’ flowers from summer into fall with repeated flushes, and the elevated canopy shows off blooms at eye level where you notice them more readily. Tree-form roses make air flow easier through the canopy, which helps leaf health when you place it in a sunny, open spot. In warmer climates it can hold foliage longer. Use it to punctuate a foundation planting, anchor a container on the patio, or mirror a pair at an entry for a clean, structured look.
Orange Glow™ Knock Out Rose - Tree Form Care
Plant Orange Glow™ rose tree in full sun, ideally 6–8 hours of direct light for the most consistent bloom and the strongest growth. Roses do best in loamy, well-drained soil that’s slightly acidic to neutral, roughly pH 6.0–7.0, and they don’t tolerate waterlogged sites. If your soil is heavy, mound the planting area or amend generously so excess water can move through.
Water when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry, soaking the root zone rather than wetting the foliage; during establishment that may be twice weekly, and in heat it can be more frequent. Feed in spring with a slow-release rose fertilizer, then repeat once in midsummer to support continued flowering without promoting late, tender growth. Expect winter dormancy in colder zones, and in borderline areas mulch the root zone after the first hard frost to buffer temperature swings.
Prune in late winter or early spring, cutting back to shape the canopy and removing any dead, damaged, or crossing wood. On tree forms, keep the “ball” balanced so it doesn’t get top-heavy. During the season, you can lightly tip-prune after a heavy flush to prompt fresh branching and more bloom cycles. In windy sites, stake the trunk the first year or two, and in colder zones add extra protection at the base and around the lower trunk where winter damage tends to start.
Orange Glow™ Knock Out Rose - Tree Form Spacing
Give it 3–4 feet of space from other shrubs so the canopy can fill out and air can move through the foliage. For containers, use a pot that’s at least 18–24 inches wide with excellent drainage, since tree roses are happiest when roots aren’t cramped and water doesn’t linger.
In the landscape, pair this rose tree with salvia for a long bloom season in full sun and sedum to carry late-summer texture under the canopy. In containers, underplant with trailing lantana for spill and euphorbia for foliage contrast that keeps the pot looking full even between rose flushes.
