The Orange Honey Rose is a miniature rose bush with a big visual impact. Its two-inch-wide flowers are vibrant orange with bright yellow accents near the base of each petal. With age, the orange fades into a light pink, starting at the tip and gradually engulfing each petal. The center of the flower transitions into a buttery yellow. The Rosa 'Orange Honey' has more to offer than good looks. The petals are edible and can be used in salads or as garnish. The fruit or rose hips produced in the fall can be dried or used fresh in tea.
Glossy green leaves have finely serrated edges, giving the bush a full and rounded appearance. Plant several shrubs in a row to create a low, decorative border. This rose makes a wonderful addition to a rose garden and can be planted in front of full-size rose bushes to create a tiered look. Include the Orange Honey Rose in a mixed bed or grow it in a container. Grow the Orange Honey Rose in zones 5 through 11.
Orange Honey Rose Care
Select a planting location that receives full sun. The Orange Honey Rose prefers fertile, moist soil that promotes drainage and has a slightly acidic pH. New plants need regular, deep watering to establish a robust root system. Established plants can live in drier conditions, but they flower longer when given water during a drought. Routinely fertilize to keep the lovely flowers coming.
Remove dead growth as it appears. Save the significant pruning and shaping for late winter when the shrub is dormant. Apply a thick layer of mulch around the base to insulate the roots from chilly winter temperatures.
Orange Honey Rose Spacing
The Orange Honey Rose bush stands 2 feet tall and wide. Space plants 2 feet apart to allow air to flow between plants. Grow one shrub in an 18-inch wide container.
