Growing Zones
This is a hosta to get excited about. Its foliage stands out amongst a crowd. The leaves are dark green with a wide curvy margin of crisp white, which creates a gorgeous contrast. It almost looks as if each leaf is hand painted. In August, it has a scape of lavender flowers. The Patriot Hosta is a very sophisticated plant and fits into any landscape!
Patriot Hosta forms a mound that slowly expands as the plant matures. The scape of lavender flowers in late summer attract bees and hummingbirds. The foliage height reaches 15-20 inches, while the scape height can reach up to 30 inches. This hosta has a spread of 30-40 inches. Use this lovely hosta for a focal point in your shady landscape or an edge plant. It works well when planted en masse and it is great for stabilizing slopes.
Patriot Hosta Care
Plant the Patriot Hosta in part shade to shade. It does it’s best in moist soil that is well drained. Once established it can tolerate some drought. This plant is adaptable and can thrive in all soil types with varying pH levels. Fertilizer should be applied lightly and in early spring. Remove flowering spikes after the flowering season has finished. Cut back foliage at the end of the season to deter slugs. Remove dead foliage as needed.
Patriot Hosta Spacing
When planting your Patriot Hosta, be sure to space plants 18 - 24 inches apart, center on center. When planting in proximity to other plants, correct spacing allows your new plant room to grow and develop a strong root system.
