This historical, award-winning rose is an incredible garden staple! One of the most well-known cultivars, this hybrid tea rose bears large flowers in the classic double form. The flowers are truly extraordinary, with creamy yellow petals decorated with an electric pink blush. From spring through fall, waves of flowers are produced continuously with little maintenance on your behalf! Dark green glossy leaves are equally beautiful and resistant to most diseases, making this a spectacular low-maintenance beauty.
The sweet aroma of these flowers will grab the attention of all visitors! Peace Rose grows to 4-5 feet tall and is tolerant of many conditions. Plant Peace Rose in mixed borders, garden beds, containers, and mass plantings. The dense foliage of this shrub makes it a great hedge plant. Its fragrant flowers also look stunning when used in floral arrangements.
Peace Rose Care
Peace Rose is one of the easiest roses you can grow! Full sun is necessary to achieve the best blooms. Plant it in rich, well-drained soil and water well until established. Water weekly and as needed for more mature plants. Take care not to overwater, and keep leaves dry to prevent disease. Peace Rose will benefit from the addition of organic matter or slow-release fertilizer in early spring. Fertilizer can be added again after the first wave of blooms is completed.
Pruning should be performed in late winter through early spring, when branches can be pruned back by a third. Prune out old wood to maintain air circulation and encourage new growth and flowers. Remove any dead branches. Mulch heavily for winter care. Bring container-grown Peace Roses to a sheltered location for winter and wrap the sides of the pot with burlap if needed.
Peace Rose Spacing
Plant Peace Rose 2-3 feet apart from other plants to allow ample air circulation and light. If growing in containers, choose a large pot that can accommodate the growth of its root system. Keep in mind that container-grown roses will not grow as large as roses planted in the ground, so 15-30 gallon pots will suffice.
