- OMRI Certified Planting Mix
- Compost + Oyster Shells
- Mycorrhizae + Biochar Boost
- 1 Cu Ft Bag
Penobscot Blend™ Planting Mix is a straightforward way to improve the root zone when planting in native soil. This 1 cubic foot mix is built around composted manure, sphagnum peat moss, and aged bark, then finished with oyster shells and mycorrhizae to support root establishment. It’s designed for trees, shrubs, and perennials, but it’s also a strong pick for annual beds and vegetables when you want looser texture and more life in the soil. We recommend mixing it with your existing soil rather than using it straight, because it’s meant to improve what you already have.
In beds and borders, Penobscot Blend helps with both drainage and aeration, which is exactly what newly planted roots need while they’re settling in. The endomycorrhizae (Glomus intraradices) supports water and nutrient uptake as roots expand, and the small amount of wood biochar adds another layer of soil conditioning. It’s a practical, season-long upgrade for planting holes, refreshed borders, and new garden areas that need better structure.
